Winter Volleyball Competition

Winter Volleyball

The competitive volleyball competition runs in the winter months, from May-September.

If you are new to the club, or have not had a trial, please get in touch with us first.

For all men’s and women’s club competition information, contact us via email.

Membership fees

Your membership fee includes your VNZ registration, Monday night Competition Team Entry Fee and training venue costs. The club also provides playing uniforms and volleyballs. We look forward to seeing you at Pioneer Stadium on these evenings.

During the winter season (May – September) the Pioneer Volleyball Club participates in the Monday night competition. To play as a member for a Pioneer Volleyball Team, you need to be a financial member of the club, and have completed the online registration.

For all players, fees are due to be paid by Friday 9th May 2025.

 Membership Type Fees (2025)
PVL, Southern Zone and Nationals Player$550
Teams Training 2x per Week (no nationals)$300*
Monday Night Only Player (Training once a week)$250*
Development Player$250*
Non-Training Teams$200*

*All tournaments outside of Nationals (i.e. Southern Zone & Invitationals) will incur additional costs that will be split and paid by teams playing in these. Players will be informed of additional costs as soon as they are known.

You can pay fees by direct credit into our Westpac account – 031594 0013072 00 – Pioneer Volleyball Club Inc. Please ensure you include your FULL name in the details.

Unless the team is a Non Training team, all members playing in the Monday night competition are required to train, unless permission exempting a member from this has been approved by the committee. Training times and venues vary by team, but are generally either a Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday evening, across Pioneer Stadium & Riccarton High School, and occasionally the Chch Netball Centre at Nga Puna Wai. All teams will be advised of their training days and times once teams are confirmed.

Subject to nomination by the committee, the Pioneer Volleyball Club will seek to support two Men’s and two Women’s Representative teams in the following ways:

  • Pay part entry fees to all qualifying tournaments. If tournaments are out of town travel and accommodation will not be covered, if tournaments are in Christchurch, an additional part payment may be required in lieu of travel and accommodation costs (estimated to be around $200 per player to cover all 3 tournaments).
  • Pay entry fees and accommodation to Nationals (excluding travel).

Please email us if you require further information or visit the Canterbury Volleyball Association website for more details regarding the competition, draws and results.
